Deleting your account and data
How do I request deletion of my account and data?
Email us and we'll delete your account and the personal data associated with it.
- Send an email to support@pactwithfriends.com from the email address you use to sign in — that's how we confirm the request is really from you.
- Use the subject line “Account deletion request”.
- We'll confirm by reply and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted?
Your account and the personal data tied to it: your profile (email address, display name and friend code), your habits and completion history, your friend connections, the messages you've sent in shared habits, and the notification tokens for your devices.
Is anything kept?
Where a habit is shared with friends, the habit itself continues to exist for the other members — but your personal data is removed from it. We may also keep a minimal record where the law requires it. Backups are rotated, so copies can persist for a short period after deletion before they age out.
Can I delete just some of my data instead?
Yes. You can delete an individual habit at any time inside the app — open the habit, tap the edit (pencil) icon, then the delete icon. That removes the habit and its completion history. If you want something else removed but want to keep your account, just ask us.
Can I delete my account from inside the app?
Not yet — email is currently the only route, which is why this page exists. Logging out (Profile → Log out) signs you out but does not delete anything.
How do I get a copy of my data?
Email the same address and ask for a copy. We'll send you the personal data we hold about you within the timeframe required by law.
Momentum
What is momentum, and why not streaks?
A streak counts how many days in a row you haven't failed — miss once and it's back to zero, taking your reason to continue with it. Momentum is a chart built from your whole history instead. It rises as you show up and dips gently when you don't, so a single bad day never erases the weeks behind it.
What happens if I miss a day?
The line dips, then climbs again as soon as you're back. Nothing resets, and nothing you already did stops counting.
Why don't I see a score out of 100?
Deliberately. A number invites you to obsess over it. You get the shape of the trend and a short phrase — “Building · trending up”, “Strong · pulling ahead” — which is what actually tells you how it's going.
What are rest days?
Days you didn't schedule that habit for. They're not failures and don't count against you — the home screen keeps them out of today's list and out of your daily count, so a weekdays-only habit doesn't nag you on a Sunday.
Friends & sharing
How do I add a friend?
Everyone has a 9-digit friend code. Open Profile → Your friends to see yours and share it, or enter your friend's code to send them a request. They accept, and you're connected.
How do I share a habit?
Open the habit and choose to add friends to it. Once shared, members see each other's progress on that habit and can chat inside it.
What can my friends actually see?
For habits you share with them: the habit, your completion activity on it, and your messages in its chat. They also see your display name and friend code. Habits you haven't shared stay private — friends can't see them, or anything else in your account.
Can I leave a shared habit?
Yes — delete it from your side. It stays for the other members; your progress leaves with you.
Privacy
Do you show ads or sell my data?
No, to both. There are no ads in Habit Pact and we don't sell personal data.
What analytics do you collect, and can I turn it off?
We collect basic usage events — screens opened, actions like creating or completing a habit — through Google Analytics for Firebase, to understand what to improve. It never includes your habit names, messages or other content you create. You can switch it off any time: Profile → Share usage analytics.
Where is my data stored?
On your device so the app works offline, and in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) so it syncs across your devices and with friends you share habits with. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Notifications
What will Pact send me?
One reminder per habit at the time you chose, and a heads-up when a friend checks in on a habit you share. Nothing else — no streak-shaming, no re-engagement nagging.
How do I change or stop them?
Change a habit's reminder time by editing the habit. To stop notifications entirely, turn them off for Habit Pact in your device's system settings.
My reminders arrive late
Android battery optimisation can delay alarms. Allowing exact alarms for Habit Pact in system settings — the app will prompt you if it's needed — keeps them on time.
General
Is it free?
Yes, Habit Pact is free to download and use.
Is there an iOS version?
Not yet. It's in progress — the app is built on a shared codebase, so iOS is coming.
Do I need an account?
Yes. An account is what syncs your habits across devices and makes shared habits possible. You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google.
